losure No.2 in Mr.Jamieson's despatch No.4 of 6th Sept: 1921
CODY
THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA
MINISTRY OF FOREIGN
Affairs.

Canton, September 7th 1921
Dear Mr.Jamieson:
I should like to draw your attention to an official communication, which I find reproduced in the Times Weekly Edition July 22 and which you will find easily in your Home papers, of the work of a committee of the Imperial Conference which considered the question of nationality on July 18th last.
The Committee favourably recommended the proposals put forward by Mr.Shortt which provided for the acquisi- tion of British nationality by persons of British
escent of the second and subsequent generations bom abroad". It would seem therefore that the law of "for lity as at present in force in China about we have had some discussion recently is not
h a bad law after all seeing that a similar law
■ been proposed by the British Home Secretary and vourably considered by the Premiers of the British nire who will recommend its adoption to their
pective Parliaments.
Yours sincerely,
SGD: Chao Chu Wu
